Farmington swimmers 5th at True Team section meet

Three runner-up finishes led the Farmington girls swimming and diving team to fifth place out of six teams at Saturday’s True Team section meet in Rochester.

Three runner-up finishes led the Farmington girls swimming and diving team to fifth place out of six teams at Saturday’s True Team section meet in Rochester.

Junior Kaitlyn O’Reilly placed second in both the 200 IM and 100 backstroke and joined Kirsten Kracke, Cora Ruzicka and Chelsea Gehrke for a second-place showing in the 400 freestyle relay.

O’Reilly, Kracke, Ruzicka and Robin Ellis also placed third in the 200 medley relay and Ellis, Gehrke, Chloe Holton and Ellie Sundet teamed up to placed fourth in the 200 freestyle relay.

Other top-seven finishes went to Kracke in the 100 freestyle (4th)?and 100 backstroke (6th) and Sundet (7th) in the 200 frestyle.

Hastings narrowly outscored runner-up Rochster John Marshall 880-877 to earn a spot in this weekend’s True Team State Meet. The Tigers finished with 700 points, just off the pace of third-place Winona (722) and fourth-place Century (717).
