Jonathan Daniel Queen, 26, of Sioux City, S.D., passed away Saturday, Nov. 3.

Jonathan Daniel Queen, 26, of Sioux City, S.D., passed away Saturday, Nov. 3.

Memorial services were held 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Kober Funeral Home in Vermillion, S.D. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, with the family present from 6-8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial was at St. Agnes Calvary Cemetery. Jonathan was born the son of Michael and Janette (Yusten) Queen on June 11, 1986, in Fremont, Neb. He lived in Farmington, Minn., before moving to Sioux City in 2001. Jonathan received his schooling in Sioux City and obtained several computer certifications through Western Iowa Tech.

Jonathan worked at Wal-Mart briefly before working for Riverside Technology Incorporated.

Even as a child, Jonathan was an amazing mind that blessed our lives. Throughout his childhood, he would grace us with his creativity and curiosity. He would come up with "science projects" made from whatever he could find and took apart any type of electronic device he could just to see if he could put it back together in working order. It was in his younger years that he came to have such a great love for animals. From his birds to his dog, he was very compassionate and caring for them. Throughout growing up, Jonathan could see the beauty of nature in everyday life. He captured amazing moments in his pictures. Jonathan inspired his world by his words, creativity, intelligence, and compassion. The world was blessed to be graced by such a greatly amazing mind. He has touched the lives of many friends and family. He will be forever in our hearts.

Jonathan is survived by his mother, Janette Queen of Osseo, Minn.; one brother, Bradley (Andrea) Queen of South Sioux City; two sisters, Tracy Queen of San Antonio, Texas, and Tanya (James) Clark of Sioux City; grandmother Geraldine Queen; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his father, Michael D. Queen; paternal grandfather, John Queen; maternal grandparents, Donald and Theresa Yusten; and uncle Daniel Yusten.
