Beem, Singewald and Cordes win board seats

Two newcomers and one familiar face won seats on the District 192 School Board Tuesday.

Two newcomers and one familiar face won seats on the District 192 School Board Tuesday.

Newcomer Laura Beem, who first got involved in district-level politics two years ago as an advocate for smaller class sizes, was the top finisher in the election with 6,387 votes. Julie Singewald, the only incumbent in the race, was second with 6,200 and Jake Cordes, a Farmington High School graduate who is finishing up his college degree, was third with 4,560.

There are three seats available on the board.

Among the other candidates Eric Bartosh finished fourth with 4,044 votes, John Guist was fifth with with 3,873, Rob Carpentier was sixth with 3,401 and Anthony MacDonald, who suspended his campaign several weeks ago was seventh with 2,193.

There were 147 write-in votes.
