Farmington supported Christy Jo Fogarty in her bid to fill the open Dakota County District 1 commissioner seat, but that wasn't enough to earn her the win against Mike Slavik of Hastings.
Slavik won the local county commissioner race Tuesday with a total of 16,355 votes to Fogarty's 11,715 overall votes.
Fogarty did carry the lead in Farmington, where she received 5,788 votes over Slavik's 3,812. Eureka and Empire townships supported her, as well, but Castle Rock voted in favor of Slavik.
Slavik will fill the seat that will be vacated when County Commissioner Joe Harris retires in December.
