Residents can have input on Farmington ISD 192 budget

Residents will have an opportunity to voice their opinion on the Farmington School District’s budget at a pair of public input meetings scheduled Nov. 19 at Dodge Middle School and Nov. 20 20 at Boeckman Middle School. Both meetings will start at 7 p.m. and both will take place in the school’s media center.

The district will take input from residents as it prepares for what finance director Carl Colmark expects will be more than $1 million in cuts for next year’s budget, and possibly more than $4 million in cuts five years from now.

Colmark asked school board members in October for their budget priorities, and the district has held a series of input meetings for staff at individual schools. As of Tuesday those sessions had taken place at five schools, with two more left this week and one left next week. Colmark has collected responses from those meetings, but said Tuesday he hasn’t yet looked at the employees’ priorities.

Once the public input sessions are complete district administrators will consider the results of all budget discussions in order to make a recommendation to school board members. The board must approve a budget in December.
