Farmington’s principals and administrative support staff have new contracts following a Monday night vote by the Farmington School Board.

Farmington School Board members approved the two deals at their regular meeting Monday night.

The contract for principals includes a 2 percent salary increase for all principals in the first year of the two-year deal and a $380 increase in the second year. The district’s three secondary principals will receive an additional 2 percent increase to their base salaries in the second year.

The new contract also reduces one high school assistant principal position from year-round to 235 days and reduces other principal positions by five days in the second year.

Principals will receive a $750 increase each year in district contributions to 403B accounts. District human resources director Mary Ann Thomas said that increase is in lieu of providing post-retirement health insurance.

The deal for administrative support staff includes a 1 percent raise in each year of the deal and in the second year increases district contributions to health care coverage to $7,300 for single coverage and $8,500 for dependent coverage.

Board member Tim Burke was the only one to oppose the new contracts. He urged the district to reconsider the benefits it offers employees.
