Letter to the editor: Taxes will go up on ag land
Taxes will not decline for all residents in School District 192, particularly those with agricultural land.
To the editor,
The Dec. 13 story about the declining school district levy did not tell the whole story.
Although taxes will decline on residences, it will not decline for all residents of the school district. Our projected school district tax on bare agricultural land will rise almost 24 percent. The tax for all governmental units combined will rise by 22.3 percent on bare agricultural and wooded land.
As a very young person I remember farmers saying, “It is the bedroom, not acres that sends kids to school.”
