The Farmington wrestling team earned a win, a virtual tie and a loss the Dec. 18 Richfield Quadrangular.

The Tigers officially came away with a record of 1-2 after Chaska/Chanhassen won the third tiebreaker – most pins, 4-2 – in a match that ended with the score tied at 33-33.

The team opened by registering five pins and three forfeits in a convincing 48-21 win over host Richfield.

Jamin LeDuc, Joe Liden, Jake Rudeen, Chris McCue and Godfrey Mpetey all won by fall.

Against Chaska/Chanhassen, the Tigers jumped out to an early lead thanks to an 8-1 decision by LeDuc, a 10-0 major decision by Taylor Venz and a pin by Mason Hawkins. McCue added another pin, Kyle Benjamin won an 8-5 decision and Rudeen won via technical fall, but Chaska/Chanhassen rallied to tie the score with pins at 220 and 285 pounds.

LeDuc closed out a 3-0 day with an 8-3 decision in a 52-19 loss to 11th-ranked (Class 3A) Shakopee. Venz followed with a 15-2 major decision to once again give Farmington an early advantage, but the Sabers went on to win 10 of 14 matches, including six via pin.

Joe Hoeve broke up Shakopee’s six-match winning streak with a pin at 160 pounds and Mpetey added a pin at 220.

The Tigers are back in action Dec. 28-29 at the 66-team Rumble on the Red tournament at the FargoDome in Fargo.
