Once again, Empire township’s elections should bring little surprise the morning after. But Castle Rock and Eureka? Well, that might be something different.

The filing of affidavits of candidacy for township elections closed Tuesday, and two of the three townships around Farmington have contests coming up.

Empire Township will not have a contested race this year. The position currently held by Jamie Elvestad is up for election, and Elvestad was the only individual to file for the position.

In Castle Rock, the posts for Supervisor A and B are up for election. Supervisor A is currently held by board of supervisors assistant chair Russ Zellmer, who is running unopposed. The Supervisor B post, which now belongs to David Nicolai, is also open. Nicolai and Jeff Partington have both filed for the Supervisor B position.

In Eureka Township, Ken Miller has filed for reelection to the open Supervisor 5 position. He is opposed in his bid by Nancy Sauber.

Township elections will be held Tuesday, March 12.
