Gymnastics: North uses beam edge to top Tigers

Lakeville North turned in the top three scores in the balance beam and the all-around while securing a 141.525-137.25 victory over the Tigers Friday at the Instructional Services Center.

“What a fun meet to have with our neighboring school,” Farmington coach Lynn Bauman said. “We are definitely improving, with the exception of the beam. We need to stay on the beam. When that happens we will be seeing very big scores.”

The team’s biggest score came in the floor exercise where Kiana Lord placed second with a 9.525. Lord also came in first in the uneven bars with an 8.9 and placed fourth in the all-around with a score of 34.725.

Tahra Eckert led the Tigers on the vault with a second-place score of 9.3. Teammate Kathryn Beckett wasn’t far behind with a fifth-place 9.225 in the vault and also earned fourth in the floor exercise with a 9.025.

Kylie Wharton added a third-place bars score of 8.3 and a fourth-place 8.65 in the balance beam. Amanda Davenport chipped in with a fourth-place score of 8.275 in the bars.

The Tigers compete again tomorrow night at the New Prague Gymnastics Center.
