Community dinner
The Farmington Masons of Corinthian Lodge No. 67 will hold a free community dinner and information presentation at 6 p.m. Jan. 31 at the lodge, 326 Third St. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and the information session begins at 7. The evening is open to anyone who would like to learn more about Masons, their history and activities in the affiliated Masonic organizations for men, women and girls.

Storytime for all ages
The Dakota County Farmington Library will offer storytime from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Feb. 1. Storytime includes stories and activities intended for mixed-age audiences such as childcare groups and families. The library is located at 508 Third St.
Live music
Local acoustic trio The Victrolas will perform from 8 to 10 p.m. Feb. 1 at Dunn Bros. Coffee in Farmington. Dunn Bros. is located at 20700 Chippendale Ave.
Saturda
DAR workshop
Josia Edson Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution will hold a workshop from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 2 at Highview Christiania Church. The group will work on comfort care items that will be donated to the VAMC. Lunch will be provided. All who are interested are invited to participate.
Every Child Ready to Read workshop
Learn research-based practices that can help develop language and pre-reading skills in children from birth to age 5 at a workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 2 at the Dakota County Farmington Library. The workshop is appropriate for parents, grandparents, childcare providers and preschool teachers. Registration is required. Free pie
Dunn Bros. in Farmington will celebrate Groundhog Day by giving away a slice of Bakers Square pie with every drink purchase from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 2. There will also be chances to win pies and gift cards. Dunn Bros. is located at 20700 Chippendale Ave.
Steak fry
The Farmington VFW will hold a steak fry fundraiser for the Farmington Yellow Ribbon Network from 5 to 8 p.m. Feb. 2. Proceeds will help active military members with their families at home. The VFW is located at 421 Third St.
Sunday
Pancake breakfast
The Farmington Knights of Columbus will hold a pancake breakfast fundraiser from 9 a.m. to noon on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 3 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Pancakes, French toast, sausage links and scrambled eggs are on the menu. Coffee, juice and water will be available. A good will offering will be taken. Proceeds will go to DARTS. The church is located at 22120 Denmark Ave.

Jack Frost
Farmington-based Children’s Castle Theater will celebrate its 20th anniversary season this weekend with a production of the original play Jack Frost. The play, which features a cast of 130 local children and adults, will be on stage at 2 and 7 p.m. Feb. 1-3 and 8-9 at the Lakeville Area Arts Center. Kids ages 9 and up can play Nintendo Wii games on the big screen at the Dakota County Farmington Library from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 4. The game session is open for kids ages 9 and up. The library is located at 508 Third St.
