Evelyn Corinne (Hasslen) Ozmun, at the age of 89, passed away peacefully on March 5 at the Northfield Retirement Center.

Evelyn Corinne (Hasslen) Ozmun, at the age of 89, passed away peacefully on March 5 at the Northfield Retirement Center.

Evelyn was born on Jan. 28, 1924, in St. Paul, Minn., to Anna and Edward Hasslen. The oldest of four daughters, she attended Wilson High School where she lettered in basketball and graduated in 1942. After graduation, she worked at Montgomery Wards and met farm boy Harvey (Buster) Ozmun. They were married on Oct. 25, 1947, at Zion Lutheran Church in St. Paul, and moved to the farm in 1950.

Evelyn enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and playing 500 with her family, friends, and neighbors. She was a member of Farmington Lutheran Church and Happy Hour Circle and was a 4-H leader and treasurer for 34 years at the Castle Rock Valley Cemetery. She devoted her life to raising her children, working on the farm, and babysitting and enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Evelyn and Buster enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Branson, and Texas, bringing back Chiclets for the grandkids and tablecloths for the children.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son Thomas in 1978; and sister Gloria Gipple.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Harvey (Buster), and four children: Ron (Carol) Ozmun, Worthington, Minn.; Nancy (Lyle) Gunderson, Northfield, Minn., Mary (Mike) Graff, Dundas, Minn.; James (Candi) Ozmun, Farmington, Minn.; 11 grandchildren, Chris, Lindsay, Keith, Amy, Lori, Mark, Pat, Lisa, Katie, Greg, and Phil; six great-grandchildren, Rachel, Logan, Kyleigh, Kennedey, Madalynn, and Eva; sisters Delores Mallet and Joanne Richardson.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at Farmington Lutheran Church, 20600 Akin Rd., Farmington, with visitation from 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 8, at the White Funeral Home, 901 3rd St., Farmington, 651-463-7374, and 1 hour prior to service at church. Interment, Castle Rock Valley Cemetery.
