Letter: Garofalo made the right decisions

To the editor,

I want to thank Rep. Pat Garofalo for voting against the unsustainable tax bill passed by the legislature recently. While the bill certainly offered some enticing benefits, the truth is there is no way to pay for such items. The bill ignores the almost $1 billion deficit and instead focuses on pandering to people’s votes as an election approaches. After the election, politicians will have to face the fact that those promises can’t be delivered without raising taxes. Politicians should be balancing the budget, not trying to buy my vote with more money from the state treasury. It is nice to know there is at least one honest legislator at the capitol.
