Area artists are invited to display their works at the June Art Show, and children are invited to paint gourds Friday and Saturday, June 20 and 21, in the Schmitz-Maki Ice Arena, Farmington. In December, the gourds will decorate the outdoor Christmas tree on Third St. The Dakota Valley Arts Council is sponsoring this annual event, which will be held during Rambling River Days. Exhibit hours will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days.
Fred Dingler, an artist from Burnsville, will judge all entries before the show opens. In addition, everyone who attends the show on Friday may vote for a favorite work. The Peoples’ Choice winner will be announced Saturday. Students under age 16 who enter the show will also receive participation ribbons.
Categories are oils/acrylics, watercolors, sculpture, pottery/ceramics, photography, and miscellaneous media. The show is open to all area artists. There is no entry fee for Dakota Valley Arts Council members; the fee is $15 for non-members. There is no fee for students who wish to exhibit their work.
Artworks must be brought to the arena between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday, June 19, and picked up between 7 and 9 p.m. Saturday, June 21, unless special arrangements are made. For additional information, call Beve Preece, DVAC president, at 651-463-8181.
