Farmington residents considering serving on the District 192 School Board are coming up on decision time.
The filing period for the Nov. 4 election will open July 1 and run until the end of the day July 15.
The early filing period is necessary so the district can hold a primary election in the event it has more than twice as many candidates as open seats. In recent years the state of Minnesota has required primaries in such situations but this year the state left the decision up to individual boards. District 192 board members decided earlier this year to continue making primary elections an option, though none has been necessary in recent memory.
The board seats currently occupied by chair Julie McKnight and board members Tim Weyandt and Ann Manthey will be up for election in November.
