Back to school bash
The Farmington outdoor pool will hold a back to school bash for middle school students from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 14. The pool is located at 626 Heritage Way. For more information call the pool at 651-463-3450.
Community meal
There will be a community meal at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 14 at Farmington Lutheran Church, 20600 Akin Road, Farmington. The meal is free but a free will offering is accepted. All are welcome. The meals are held the second and fourth Thursday of each month. For information, call Sandy Glau at 651-463-3360.
August 16
Motorcycle night
The Farmington Downtown Business Association will host a motorcycle ride-in night from 5 to 10 p.m. Aug. 16. Third Street will be reserved for motorcycles and there will be food, raffles, contests and musical entertainment. This monthly event will run through September.
Steak fry
There will be a steak fry fund-raiser for Trinity Care Center from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday Aug. 16 at the Farmington VFW.
August 17
Minnesota Teen Challenge choir
The Minnesota Teen Challenge choir will give a free performance Aug. 17 at the 10 a.m. service of the River Church. The choir’s contemporary gospel and praise songs will be accompanied by stories of the students’ delivery from addiction. Minnesota Teen Challenge is a faith-based residential chemical dependency program for teens and adults. The River Church meets at Farmington Middle School East.
Hog roast
Castle Rock United Methodist Church will hold its annual hog roast from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 17. The event will feature live music and a silent auction. Castle Rock United Methodist is located at 27890 Delft Ave.
Empire entertainment
Empire Township will hold its summer entertainment series Sundays in July and August.
The Farmington High School marching band will perform Aug. 17.

August 19
Grand opening
Expressive Embroidery, 305 Third Street, will hold a grand opening celebration from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 19. There will be a ribbon cutting at 4:30 and free hot dogs, pop and water will be available.
August 22
Carson Winters benefit
There will be a benefit silent auction and concert from 7:30 to close Aug. 22 at the Farmington Eagles Club. Carson was born 12 weeks early in May of 2007. He weighed just two pounds and has since undergone several surgeries. Proceeds from the benefit will help cover the cost of his recovery.
August 23
Steak fry
The Farmington High School dance team will hold a fund-raiser steak fry from 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Farmington VFW, 420 Third St. Tickets available from dancers or at the event.
Car show
The Southern Cruzers will hold their annual Summer Spectacular car show, craft fair and swap meet from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Dakota County fairgrounds. For more information visit www.thesummerspectacular.com.

St. Mathias Fun Fest
St. Mathias Parish of Hampton will hold its annual fun fest Aug. 24 at the church grounds, located at the corner of Highway 50 and County Road 47. There will be a polka mass at 10 a.m. with food served from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. There will be a silent auction and entertainment throughout the day. There will be a live auction at 3 p.m.

Book club meeting
The Farmington Friends of the Library book club will meet at 7 p.m. in the meeting room at the library. The subject of the Aug. 26 meeting is "Nothing to do but Stay" by Carrie Young.

Andrew Kippley benefit
There will be a benefit concert, dinner and silent auction for Farmington resident Andrew Kippley from 2 to 7 p.m. Sept. 6 at Black Dawg Bar and Grille, 3120 West Hwy. 13 in Burnsville.
