A coin toss, a game of rock, paper, scissors or some other game of chance could determine who gets the final spot on the Nov. 4 school board ballot in Independent School District 192.

With two candidates tied for the last of six spots on in the November general election district administrative assistant Lori Jensen said the board will settle break the deadlock by lot after board members officially accept the results at a special meeting Wednesday night. That meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Farmington High School little theater.

Tim Burke won Tuesday's primary with 863 votes. Julie Singewald was second with 842, current board chair Julie McKnight third with 515 and Veronica Walter fourth with 494. Kimberlee Simones finished fifth with 437 votes.

Candidates Carol Kappes and Bruce Westover each finished with 360 votes and Jim Peroutky was just nine votes behind with 351.

Six candidates will advance to the Nov. 4 general election. Tuesday's primary was necessary because the district had more than twice as many candidates as open seats.
