Dakota County seeks comments on planned regional park in Empire Township 
Dakota County is looking for your opinion on a new 456-acre regional park in in Empire Township. County staff will use those comments to create a final master plan for the project.
County staff will take comments through Jan. 12 on the draft master plan, and the county will hold an open house from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Jan. 5 at the Dakota County Western Service Center in Apple Valley.

County wants input on planned greenway routes 
The Dakota County Parks department is looking for residents’ opinions about its plans for two future greenway corridors in Rosemount and Empire Township. While the projects are years away, county planner John Mertens said the county wants to know what people think of the concept. The parks department will hold an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Rosemount Community Center.

Two fundraiser breakfasts will aid Farmington residents who lost their home to fire 
Kerri Davis is a private person. So depending on the kindness of strangers is not something she’s comfortable doing.
However, after a fire destroyed her house on Nov. 4 the Farmington resident has found herself in that position. The fire, which started in the garage of her home, destroyed her house, vehicle and all of her family’s personal belongings except for a few photographs.

4-H weather balloon program promotes science education

The University of Minnesota turned on its new research wind turbine Tuesday with a ceremony at the UMore Park site. Hundreds of people turned out for the event.

Dispatch center will test emergency alert system Nov. 1 
The Dakota Communications Center will do a mass notification call Nov. 1. Before that, officials want residents to be aware that they can sign up to be notified in the case of emergencies in the area.

Learn about UMore’s big new turbine at an Oct. 25 open house 
The wind turbine that has risen up on the eastern side of Rosemount is one of three wind energy research and energy projects in the nation. The Eolos Wind Research Station will be an important tool in the creation of new technology for the future of wind energy. And for Jeff Marr and others involved with the project it’s just plain exciting.
