Phyllis Miriam Lanphear Shadrick, born Dec. 9, 1927, in Orleans, Vt., died April 25 in Colorado Springs after a brief battle with cancer.

Preceded in death by husband, Albert Shadrick, and daughters Sally Shadrick and Debra Anderson.
Survived by her children Lyssa (Dan) Bingman, James (Dorothy) Shadrick, Jeffrey (Dani) Shadrick, Susan (Bill) Denn, Barbara (Andrew) Aylward, and many grand- and great-grandchildren.
After marrying in California on Christmas Eve, 1943, Phyllis and her husband, Albert, lived in Minnesota until relocating to Colorado Springs in 1998. Phyllis raised their seven children, working various jobs, especially enjoying her work as a home health care aide. She took a number of mission trips to Honduras, becoming “Grandma” to children she met there. An avid reader, Phyllis was an active member of First Presbyterian Church. She and her beloved Chihuahua Cookie were residents at The Palisades, where they both had many friends. Phyllis was known for her cheerful demeanor, and many will miss her smiling face.
She will be interred with her husband at Ft. Snelling in Minnesota. Donations can be made in her name to the Pikes Peak Humane Society or First Presbyterian Church Deacons fund, both in Colorado Springs, Colo.
