Peter Kontinakis, the longtime owner of the Farmington Steakhouse, died Sunday at the age of 63.
Kontinakis opened the Farmington Steakhouse in the summer of 1984. He was a fixture behind the counter at the downtown restaurant, which is known for its large portions and low prices. Standing in front of a large grill, he would greet customers with a, “Hey, buddy!” His death was reported Sunday on the Steakhouse’s Facebook page and drew an outpouring of support from fans of the business.
A visitation for Kontinakis is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 17 at Willwersheid Funeral Home, located at 235 Wentworth Ave., W. St. Paul, MN 55118. A funeral is scheduled at 11 a.m. Oct. 18 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
