Eagle project aims to complete retired Farmington firefighter's vision
A retired Farmington Firefighter’s vision is a few steps closer to reality thanks to the work of a Farmington Boy Scout. Kyle Kratz, a sophomore this year at Farmington High School, is using his Eagle Scout project to complete work started by Gale Sprute to recognize the emergency workers who died in the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Brothers David and Jonathan Bovee are both working on their Eagle Scout
David and Jonathan Bovee are only a year apart, and they have a lot of the same interests. They compete together on the Farmington High School swim team. They even finish each other’s sentences. They have been in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts together for much of their lives, so maybe it makes sense that when it came time to go after the highest honor the Scouts have to offer they are doing that together, too.

For more than an hour, band members and sheriff’s deputies, firefighters and Boy Scouts traced a parade route around an Empire Township neighborhood, part of a Make-A-Wish gift that just kept growing.

Our favorite things: Nathan’s favorite 2012 stories include parades, horses and changing ideas about education
We have written a lot of stories over the past year. At a rough estimate, we filled more than 1,500 pages with news about Farmington. That’s a lot of stories we have worked to prepare, then sent out into the world. And while some of them were relatively small things, others have stuck with us over the months. This is a look back at those stories, our favorites from 2012.
