North Trail Elementary School Giving Tree stands tall
North Trail Elementary School students and staff are getting that holiday giving spirit, and just in time, too. From now through Friday, Dec. 14, North Trail Elementary will collect gifts of toys for Farmington’s Toys for Town gift drive through its new project, the Giving Tree. Set up in the school lobby, the tree serves as the drop-off point for any toys students or staff would like to donate.

Twice a month, about 20 fourth and fifth grade students meet in the computer labs after school for computer club. It’s a new club this year that has students teaching students, and students teaching adults, too.

The back-to-school process is kicking off a little bit earlier than usual this year at Farmington elementary schools. With two days of literacy assessments next week, Farmington teachers hope to get a head start on the new year. The idea is to bring in all elementary school students before the start of the school year so teachers can get a better idea of their literacy level – who needs help, and who might need some additional challenges.
