Farmington HPC seeks award applications
The city of Farmington boasts of “A Proud Past — A Promising Future” in its logo. Next month, the Farmington Heritage Preservation Commission hopes to honor someone who has contributed to that proud past. The Farmington HPC is currently accepting nominations for the annual Heritage Preservation Award, which is designed to recognize individuals in the community who have made a significant impact when it comes to Farmington’s history.

The biggest day of the year in Farmington is almost here. No, not Christmas or city-wide clean-up day, although those are close seconds. The most exciting annual event in Farmington is the Kiss the Pig contest. For one brief, shining moment, a Farmington dignitary smacks lips with a piglet in front of the entire town. The high school principal, a Lutheran minister, the fire chief or someone else of prominence wins the honor every year.
