Mary Vy Nguyen of Eagan and Josh Pierce of Farmington have announced their engagement. The daughter of Son Nguyen and Thanh Tran of Eagan, Mary is a 2006 graduate of Burnsville High School and a 2009 graduate of Hamline University, where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology. She will also complete a master of arts degree in marriage and family therapy from Argosy University in 2012. Mary is employed at as a program director for REM Hennepin in St. Louis Park. Josh is the son of Mike and Laura Pierce of Farmington. He is a 2006 graduate of Farmington High School and a 2009 graduate of Brown College, where he earned an associate of science degree in software development. Josh is employed as a database engineer with the Lacek Group in Minneapolis. The couple will be married Aug. 13, 2011. A 10 a.m. traditional Vietnamese ceremony will be held at the bride’s home, followed by a Catholic service at Mary, Mother of the Church in Eagan. The couple will reside in Farmington.

But Josh Pierce has sporting events on a smaller scale in mind with the business he’s trying to launch. Two charged in connection with Jan. 5 fire
Two young men playing with fire appear to be the cause of a fire that destroyed a shed last week on property owned by the University of Minnesota on property in Empire Township. The Dakota County Attorney’s office filed formal charges Thursday against 22-year-old Rosemount resident Joseph Michael Sanem and 21-year-old Apple Valley resident Matthew Thomas Berntsen in connection with the fire.
