Saturday’s finish at the Lakeville North Invite showed Farmington wrestling coach Chad Olson how much his team has improved over the last year. The Tigers finished 10th at the meet for the second straight time, but this year it came against a field of 16 teams rather than 14. Six of the team’s wrestlers placed in the top six, up from four a season ago, and the Tigers combined to score 72 1/2 points.

Tiger wrestlers win five in a row
It’s been 10 years since the Farmington wrestling team has been on a roll like this. The Tigers, who started the season having gone without a dual win in nearly two years, are now in the midst of their longest winning streak since the 2001-02 season. They improved to 5-4 on the season with their fifth straight dual win, 57-14 over Lakeville South Thursday night at the Farmington High School Auxiliary Gym.

After a disappointing team showing in the first two rounds, the Farmington wrestling team came back to earn seventh at the eight-team Tiger Duals Saturday at Tiger Gym. The Tigers started their opening dual against Park of Cottage Grove by winning the first four weights, building a 20-0 lead. The Wolfpack chipped away by winning five of the next six matches and took advantage of forfeits at 182 and 195 pounds to rally for a 40-26 victory.
