Girls track: Tigers productive at Hamline Elite
The Farmington girls track team sent five events to the Hamline Elite Meet Friday night in St. Paul and all five came away with top-10 finishes. Defending state 110 hurdles champion Nadia Lorencz placed third in the event in 15.53 seconds and added a fourth-place long jump of 16 feet, 9 1/4 inches and a ninth-place triple jump of 33 feet, 8 1/2 inches.

Girls track and field: Irish, Tigers soak up the sun
The snow melted and the sun came out just long enough to get the Irish Girls Invitational track meet completed last Tuesday night at Irish Stadium. Prior Lake won the meet with 165 1/2 points, followed by Eagan with 102 and third-place Rosemount with 66 1/2 points. Farmington was a close fourth with 58 1/2 points.

Farmington’s Schmitz-Maki Ice Arena will get some more work done this year, thanks to some funding left over from a 2010 renovation project. At a Monday workshop, the Farmington City Council identified three improvements which will be funded by $111,744 that remains in the 2010 project account.
