City of Farmington's budget shrinks from preliminary figure
After months of tweaking and redefining priorities, the Farmington City Council has received a final 2013 budget and property tax breakdown. The final proposal, brought by city administrator David McKnight during a Monday night budget workshop, shows a net tax levy of $8,718,968 for 2013. That represents a 1.79 percent increase — or $152,986 — over the 2012 levy of $8,565,982.

Larson wins a second term as Farmington’s mayor
Farmington mayor Todd Larson has earned the right to be called mayor for four more years.In the race to fill two, four-year positions on the Farmington City Council, incumbent Terry Donnelly was reelected to serve another term. Donnelly received 5,928 votes. Farmington Planning Commission member Doug Bonar finished second in balloting with 4,175.

iPad rollout continues in district schools
The Farmington School District is taking the next step in a process that will eventually put an iPad in the hands of every district student. Last week school board members approved a three-year, $533,751 lease agreement that will provide 1,420 of the Apple tablet computers to students at Farmington High School. When the distribution is completed later this year, every student at FHS will have one of the devices.
