The puppies Lynn Brady and Connie Townsend hold in their arms look a little bit like what might happen if a polar bear mated with a cotton ball. They’re animated puffs of fur, all white except for the purple dye marking their shoulders, and for the past two decades they and their ancestors have been an increasingly important part of the Farmington pair’s life.

Military notes: Douglas Boyce
Air Force Reserve Airman Douglas R. Boyce graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Boyce is the son-in-law of Scott Jones of Farmington. He is a 2004 graduate of Farmington High School.

Russell Wustenberg, a vocal performance senior at Concordia College in Moorhead, will perform the lead role in “The Marriage of Figaro” in Salzburg,?Austria, with the Franco-American Vocal Academy’s international program as part of Salzburg’s Mozart Festival. A lyric baritone, Wustenberg was a Top Ten finalist in FAVA’s French Art Song Competition held at the University of Texas-Austin last winter.
