Student column: Snow or no snow, students unhappy
As you may know, many schools had a snow day two weeks ago on March 5. That is a very rare occasion. There have been days when cars were in ditches, accidents were happening left and right and cars were sliding off roads due to the ice. Even the school buses were 20 minutes late to school due to road conditions and we didn’t even have a snow day.

Student column: Eager for spring to arrive
Spring is just around the corner, and you can notice it in many ways. Most winter sports — gymnastics, hockey, wrestling, etc. — are either in the final stages of the season or have already ended.

Column: A blessing in disguise
A couple of weeks ago, I met a couple of students at Farmington High School who I could really identify with. They were students from the FHS Peers for Peers program, and they had just gotten done emceeing an assembly on bullying.

If you visit enough classrooms at Farmington High School you’ll probably see some pretty pedestrian uses of the iPads that became standard equipment for students and teachers late last December.

iPads everywhere in Farmington schools
It’s hard to get away from iPads at Farmington High School. Walk into a classroom and they’re propped up on nearly every desk. Stand in the hallway, and you can watch students walk from class to class with their eyes fixed on the glowing screen.

FHS Peers for Peers wants to stop the cycle of bullying
No one really understands how much being bullied hurts, how much it changes a child or cuts into a teen’s soul. No one, except those who have lived the experience. Farmington High School seniors Holly Loberg and Eric Revis know what bullying can do. That’s why they were at the center of a Peers for Peers program Feb. 15.

Editorial: Plenty of good news in schools
Farmington got a lot of attention last week thanks to the actions of one high school hockey player. The reaction is not a big surprise. The video of Austin Krause’s abrupt departure from the ice Feb. 12 was striking, and for many it played neatly into an ongoing narrative about What’s Wrong With Kids Today.
