Farmington’s move from Missota will wait at least a few weeks
The Farmington School Board will wait a few more weeks before deciding whether to leave the Missota Conference behind. School board members voted Monday to wait until their Jan. 28 meeting to act on a proposal to leave the Missota, home since 1998 to Farmington High School’s sports teams.

Column: The coolest things in town
News programs in December and January are usually stuffed with Top Ten lists. Although they are a handy way to fill a little space in a column, until two weeks ago I hadn’t yet resorted to them. Then for the first time ever, I decided to cull the best of Farmington into one giant list, which I branded the Top Ten Coolest Things in Farmington during 2012. In my last column we explored a few of these cool things.

Parkland named for Farmington's first parks director
Former Farmington parks and recreation director Jim Bell remembers well negotiating the purchase of a large chunk of parkland north of 195th Street, and he remembers the trees that had to be cleared so a pair of ponds could be constructed there, too. He planned the trail system near those ponds, and now all of Farmington can remember his contributions every time they use those trails.

Letter: Opponent’s accusations were inaccurate, mayor says
This letter is in response to last week’s letter to the editor from Dave Pritzlaff. Although Mr. Pritzlaff has admitted to some bad math when it comes to when he was a member of the Farmington City Council (2004-2008) he has not corrected the mistake on the flyers he is handing out or on his website. I have been mayor from 2009 until present; I have never missed a city council meeting, EDA meeting or any council workshops.

Farmington homeowners will pay an extra $6 in storm water utility fees next year so the city can begin testing on ponds around the community. The tests are to see if Farmington’s ponds are filling up with sediment, and if so, if that sediment is contaminated.
