Section 3, Class 5A football: Tigers win wild one
Saturday night’s Section 3, Class 5A semifinal was anything but your typical grind-it-out, late-October football game. Second-seeded Farmington and third-seeded Minneapolis Southwest opted to stick with their pass-friendly spread offenses and it paid off for both teams. The two offenses combined for 84 points despite temperatures that dipped into the upper 20s at Tiger Stadium.

Week 7: Tigers clinch share of first Missota title since '08
The Farmington football team got to celebrate a couple of victories Friday night. The first was a 41-28 shootout over Holy Angels that sent the team’s seniors off in winning fashion and capped off a perfect 4-0 mark on the Tiger Stadium turf this season. The second came about 10 minutes after the final whistle when, with the Tigers gathered at midfield, athletic director Jon Summer delivered the news that Shakopee had defeated Chanhassen, 24-14, giving seventh-ranked (Class 5A) Farmington at least a share of its first Missota Conference title since the 2008 season.
