Column: Parade is something special
Is anyone else in Farmington as amazed as I am by the Dew Days parade? Seriously. In the 30-some-year run of Mountain Dew Days/Dew Days/Rambling River Days/Dew Days, not once has the grand parade been cancelled. Not once. It’s been postponed, but it’s never been called off. I think that’s amazing.

City of Farmington closes Rambling River Park
Rambling River Park is a hot spot this week. Water spilled over from the Vermillion River into the park, and on Tuesday, dozens of kids and adults were playing in the water. The only problem is, the park is closed for safety reasons.

When Farmington city administrator David McKnight presented his first draft of the 2013 city budget with a tax levy increase of 11.29 percent, he knew it would not go over well. “I’m not crazy,” McKnight told Farmington City Council members during a Monday night budget workshop, “but I wanted you to see some of the budget requests.”

Farmington police chief Brian Lindquist got out of his office and on the road Monday. It’s something he doesn’t get to do often, but this week was an exception. Monday was the kick off to Safe and Sober’s Click it or Ticket campaign. It’s an annual campaign that focuses specifically on seatbelt use.
