Strong storm does damage around Farmington
A storm one resident described as “a wall of wind” left many residents with toppled trees, damaged homes and crushed cars Tuesday morning. The storm hit Farmington around 4 a.m. Tuesday with straight-line winds that snapped large branches off of some trees and tore others up by the roots.

Rambling River Park is a hot spot this week. Water spilled over from the Vermillion River into the park, and on Tuesday, dozens of kids and adults were playing in the water. The only problem is, the park is closed for safety reasons.

The downtown Farmington liquor store will soon have a new location, and Farmington City Council members are hoping it will be a profitable one. Three of five council members favor a 5,058-square-foot site at Tamarack Ridge Center on Highway 3 over the present 6,280-square-foot location in the City Center development off of Elm Street.

Farmington has a new affordable housing option for senior citizens, and the units are filling up fast. The first 17 residents of the Vermillion River Crossings senior housing complex moved into their new homes last week, and more are scheduled to move in on June 19.
