It’s Spirit Week at Farmington Elementary School, so we thought it was a perfect time to stop by and see what goes on during a typical day at Farmington’s oldest elementary building.

Fifth grade career fair gives students a chance to explore their options 
Not every kid can grow up to be a professional athlete.
Unfortunatley, that seems to be the career choice of most fifth grade boys in Farmington’s elementary schools, according to North Trail Elementary School student advocate Lisa Sammlar.
But after last Friday’s career fair at Farmington Elementary School, some students might think designing a water park sounds like a pretty good deal. Or maybe they like the idea of fixing motorcycles or confiscating things people are trying to smuggle into the state.

When Farmington Elementary School principal Ben Januschka agreed to kiss a cow if his students could collect more items than students at Akin Road Elementary School for the Farmington Food Shelf, he knew he was taking a big chance.

Farmington elementary schools compete in the spirit of the season
Walk through the doors at either Akin Road Elementary School or Farmington Elementary School, and there’s no doubt kids get the whole “giving to others” concept.
Just inside the entryway at both schools, there are piles of canned goods, boxed meals and other nonperishables. All of the collections are for the Farmington Food Shelf.

Math challenges add up to fun at Farmington Elementary School
There was a whole lot of excitement at Farmington Elementary School last Wednesday, and it wasn’t just because kids had the next few days off from school.
Most of the student body was gathered in the auditorium space at FES for a Minute to Win It-style challenge. The kids were there, cheering on classmates who were competing for a calculator.

Elementary school students in Farmington got ready for next week's first day of school with open houses this week. Schools held open houses Wednesday and Thursday to give students a chance to find their desks, deposit their supplies and get to know their teachers.
