A 25-year-old Lakeville man faces felony domestic assault charges after a Feb. 20 fight in which he reportedly dragged his mother around a gravel parking area and punched and choked his father.

A Dakota County Sheriff’s Deputy got a few clues Michael Swinarski might not have been fit to drive when she came upon him last December. His car was in the west ditch along Highway 52. His eyes were glassy and he smelled of alcohol. And according to a complaint filed last week in the Dakota County Attorney’s office he misspelled his middle name.

A German Shepard, Boscoe is the newest member of the FPD. His handler and partner, officer Travis Sundvall, picked up Boscoe from the St. Paul Canine Training Facility Feb. 22.

Prosecution down for juveniles, up for adults PressPass

The city of Farmington got mixed results in the adult and juvenile crime statistics released this month by the Dakota County Attorney’s office. The number of adults charged with felony-level offenses increased by 58 percent — from 26 prosecutions in 2008 to 41 last year — but the number of juveniles prosecuted fell from 124 to 93.

County appoints chief deputy to serve as interim sheriff PressPass

In the end there was no surprise appointment. At its regular meeting Tuesday, the Dakota County Board of Commissioners, on a unanimous vote, appointed Dakota County Chief Deputy Dave Bellows sheriff, replacing Don Gudmundson, whose resignation is effective Sunday.

The Dakota County Attorney’s office charged Olivia Danielle Gilliland with two felony-level controlled substance charges last week in relation to the June 16 search at an apartment building.
