Letter: State must improve business climate PressPass

We need to make dramatic structural changes to bring our spending back down to sustainable levels and balance the budget.

Last week I attended the joint Farmington City Council and school board meeting as they received the task force report on ice arena options for our community. Their first recommendation was to construct two new ice sheets, which would obviously close the Schmitz-Maki Arena.

Why marginalize letters? PressPass

Why do you marginalize letters to the editor, wedging them into a narrow grey column? It makes them very hard to read.

A while back our state legislature voted to use public funding for the Twins’ new stadium at a price of $500,000,000. The funding took place in the form of an increased sales tax for a period of 30 years, which was not passed with a public referendum.

Thoughts on the flag issue PressPass

Last week there was an article on the US flag being flown wrong at our new high school. I am sure this issue would have generated quite a bit of commentary online, yet the article was not published in the online edition. Maybe you can put it in there.

Be aware what you’re teaching on the field PressPass

This past weekend I got to be an impartial observer at the second and third grade Farmington in-house baseball tournament. As the mother of one of the teenage umpires, I went to the games, relaxed and watched, completely unaware of any score.
