Volleyball: Tiger’s season ends at Mayo
The Farmington volleyball team fell short in a marathon 29-27 opening set and couldn’t recover in a sweep at the hands of Rochester Mayo in the second round of the Section 1AAA tournament last Friday in Rochester.
The third-seeded Spartans (16-11) advanced to face Faribault in the semifinals by winning the last two sets, 25-20 and 25-10.

Volleyball: Seniors score win in Farmington’s final home game
The Farmington volleyball team’s eight seniors celebrated Senior Night by helping the team get back to the .500 mark with a three-game sweep of Holy Angels last Tuesday at Tiger Gym.
The Tigers opened with a 25-8 rout and went on to win the next two games, 27-25 and 25-15.

Volleyball: Tigers split for sixth
The Tigers picked up back-to-back 3-0 sweeps of Hastings and Red Wing last week, and then split four matches to place sixth out of 16 teams Saturday at the Farmington Invite. At 8-7, the team has already surpassed last season’s total of seven victories.

Volleyball: Farmington falls to JM in five games
Rochester John Marshall had to work to hand the Farmington volleyball team its first setback of the young season last Thursday night.
The Rockets trailed in games 1-0 and 2-1 before rallying for a hard-fought 26-28, 25-18, 23-25, 25-23, 15-10 non-conference win over the Tigers.

Habeck named Freshman of the Year
The American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America Teams were released last Monday with Concordia predominantly featured. Megan Carlson (Andover, Minn.), Kayla Koenecke (Delano, Minn.) and Amanda Konetchy (Victoria, Minn.) were all named to the first team. Katie Habeck, a 2011 Farmington graduate, was named to the second team and the AVCA National Freshman of the Year.

Volleyball: Finale goes to Trojans
Slow starts in all three games left Farmington on the short end of its regular season finale against New Prague last Tuesday at Tiger Gym.
The Trojans took advantage of their early leads and scored a 25-19, 25-19, 28-18 sweep to secure their 10th win of the season.
