Wrestling: Adrian shines in debut at Xcel 
Farmington’s Eric Adrian showed no signs of being intimidated in his first appearance at the Class 3A State Wrestling Tournament.
The senior won his first two matches by fall and went on to place fifth in the 160-pound bracket last weekend at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Carl Elmer, Eric Adrian and Nick Albano backed up their state rankings at Saturday’s Section 2AAA Individual Tournament in Prior Lake.
All three Farmington wrestlers reached the finals in their respective weight classes to qualify for the Class AAA State Tournament, which got under way Wednesday night at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Pins pile up at South St. Paul Quad
Nick Albano, Carl Elmer, Joe Hoeve and Eric Adrian each went 3-0 in helping the Farmington wrestling team win two of its three duals at Thursday’s South St. Paul Quadrangular.
The Tigers opened with a 48-28 win over St. Paul Harding, then beat East Ridge, 28-23, before falling to South St. Paul, 42-39. The Tigers won 18 of their 19 matches by fall, but ended up dropping their final dual to South St. Paul because of four losses that came via pin.

Tiger individuals shine
The Farmington wrestling team outscored its opponents in the matches that were wrestled and ended up losing team duals throughout last season.
It happened again in this season’s first dual Friday night against Faribault. The Tigers won six of the nine matches wrestled, but Faribault took advantage of four forfeited weights in a 39-31 victory in front of a big crowd at the first varsity wrestling competition at the new high school.
