CAPITOL CHATTER Wrestlers put up fight at South 
The Farmington wrestling team almost knocked off Lakeville South in a dual meet last Friday in Lakeville.
The Tigers held a 34-33 lead heading into the heavyweight match, but South’s top-ranked Zane Peterson pinned Brett Hoffman to give the Cougars a 39-34 win.

Wrestling: Elmer wins 100th match vs. Shakopee
The performance of Carl Elmer was once again a bright spot during last Thursday’s 60-14 dual loss to Shakopee at Tiger Gym.
Elmer, ranked sixth in the state in Class 3A, won by fall at 140 pounds to become the 11th Farmington wrestler to reach 100 career victories.

Wrestling: Elmer, Hoeve go 2-0 at triangular
Carl Elmer and Joe Hoeve were the only Farmington wrestlers to post 2-0 records during last Thursday’s triangular meet against Rosemount and Northfield at Farmington High School.
The Tigers fell to Rosemount, 57-24, in the opening dual, then lost to Northfield, 54-19.

Wrestling: Three unbeaten at duals
A promising dual loss to a tough Faribault team Thursday night gave way to a long weekend for the Farmington wrestling team.
The Tigers had the Falcons on the ropes, winning seven of the first 10 matches to start the dual. The home team rallied by taking the final four weights — with three pins and a forfeit — to secure a 40-33 win.

The Farmington wrestling team started and finished strong during a fifth-place team finish at Saturday’s eight-team Big Lake Invitational.
The Orange and Black scored 66 points in the opening round, then, after posting just five points in the second round, came back to win nine of 10 of their consolation matches en route to a total of 138 points.
