Tennis: Owatonna moves past Tigers, 7-0

Third-seeded Owatonna swept No. 6 Farmington 7-0 in hot and windy conditions last Tuesday in the opening round of the Section 1AA team tournament. “The heat and wind were a terror, but we were able to keep them from frustrating us severely,” Farmington coach Jack Olwell said.

The Farmington girls track team used the Pat Foley Classic to tune up for the upcoming Missota Conference and Section 1AA Championships. No team score was kept at the four-team get-together last Thursday, but the Tigers made their presence felt by winning eight of the meet’s 18 events.

For the Farmington girls golf team, just getting on the course this spring has been something of a victory. The Tigers have competed in just three meets so far in a season filled with cancellations and adjusted schedules, and while they have not yet been in contention for any titles, coach Jon Stock is happy with what he has seen.
