Nadia Lorencz will have a much busier schedule at this year's Class 2A State Gymnastics Meet. Lorencz qualified in three events, as well as in the all-around, while leading the Tigers to a third-place finish at the Section 3AA meet Thursday night at Park High School in Cottage Grove.

Farmington gymnasts break 140 points in Missota finale

The Farmington gymnastics team is peaking at just the right time. With the Missota Conference championships coming up tomorrow night and the Section 3AA meet slated for next week, the Tigers ran out a healthy lineup last Friday and established a new season-high team score in a 141.625-135.675 league victory over Chaska-Chanhassen at the Instructional Services Center.

Gymnastics: Team scores are on the rise

The Farmington gymnastics team is once again on the verge of a 140-point team score. The Tigers reached the mark several times last season, including at the Section 1AA Championships when they peaked at a school-record 142.75. This year’s team has missed most of its top performers at one time or another, including Thursday night when Kathryn Beckett was out of the lineup for a 149.225-138.625 home loss to defending state champion Northfield.

Gymnastics: Tigers win at Rosemount

Three gymnasts captured first-place finishes for Farmington as the Tigers got together over their holiday break to score 133.75 points and edge host Rosemount by less than a point Thursday night. “It’s always hard to have a meet during the holidays,”Farmington coach Lynn Bauman said. “We tried our best and pulled out a win. The girls were positive and made a big improvement on the beam.”

Gymnastics: Lord’s all-around leads the way in Missota opener

Another strong performance from Kiana Lord led Farmington past Red Wing in its Missota Conference opener Friday night at the Instructional Services Center. Lord won the all-around with a score of 34.275 as the Tigers improved their team score from last week’s opener at Austin by just over half a point in a 133.275-121.425 victory.

The Austin Winter Warm-up was just what the Farmington gymnastics team needed to get its season started Saturday afternoon. The Tigers looked a little rusty as they suffered multiple falls in all four events, but coach Lynn Baumann was still pleased with the difficult routines her gymnasts attempted while finishing second out of seven teams with 132.7 points.

Section 1AA Gymnastics: Tigers send three to state

By the standards of the previous 15 years, 2010 was a very successful season for the Farmington gymnastics team. The Tigers finished fifth - their highest team placing ever - at the Section 1AA meet and qualified an individual for state for the first time since head coach Lynn Bauman in the early 90s. The 2011 edition of the Tigers has taken the program to another level. The Orange and Black broke its own school scoring record with a 142.75 at the Section 1AA Championships at Lakeville South Friday night, breaking two other school records in the process and qualifying three gymnasts for the Class 2A State Meet while placing second in the nine-team field.
