Girls hockey: Section 1AA run halted by Cougars
For the third straight year, a Lakeville school will represent Section 1AA at the Class 2A State Girls Hockey Tournament.
No. 12-ranked Farmington was able to avenge last year’s section loss to Lakeville North with a thrilling triple-overtime win last Tuesday, but the Tigers ran out of steam in Friday’s Section 1AA championship game.

The Farmington girls hockey team will take on top-seeded Lakeville South at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Four Seasons Center in Owatonna. The Tigers are looking for their first Class 2A State Tournament trip since the 2007-08 season.

Girls hockey: Ready for a rematch
Farmington started the Section 1AA tournament the same way it did last season, by piling up eight goals in a home victory over Dodge County Friday night at Schmitz-Maki Arena.
The Tigers are hoping their second tournament game will play out differently than it did a year ago, when they lost 5-3 in a semifinal showdown at Lakeville North. The 15th-ranked Tigers will get another shot at the 12th-ranked Panthers back in Lakeville Tuesday night.

Girls hockey: Winning streak reaches 5
Farmington carried over the momentum from its three-game sweep of the Louis Schmitz Holiday Classic with a pair of lopsided Missota Conference wins last week.
The Tigers stayed a game ahead of Chaska/Chanhassen in the league standings by shutting out Holy Angels, 7-0, at home last Tuesday night and doubling up Northfield, 6-3, Thursday night at Northfield Ice Arena.
