Dakota County plans road construction, roundabout for Farmington

When the Farmington City Council gave its approval to a Dakota County 2013-17 capital improvement plan request Monday, council members affirmed the reconstruction of 195th Street from Flagstaff Avenue on the west, to Diamond Path on the east. As part of that project, council members agreed to the county’s plan to bring a roundabout to the intersection of Pilot Knob Road and 195th Street.

Aid available for flood damaged fields

Farmington’s Holz named outstanding senior

Farmington’s Holz named outstanding senior Farmington resident Don Holz was recognized last week as the Outstanding Senior Citizen in Dakota County for all of his volunteer work. Holz received the award Aug. 9 at the Dakota County Fair. Holz spends much of his time volunteering at various places in the area. He is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and a “Friend of the Farm” at the Holz Historic Farm.

Fogarty, Slavik win in county board primary

Farmington City Council member Christy Jo Forgarty will advance to the general election in the race to become Dakota County Commissioner for District 1. Fogarty finished second in Tuesday’s primary election with 25.1 percent of the vote. She will face off in November against Hastings resident Mike Slavik, who received 41.75 percent of the vote.
