Girls hockey: Tigers blanked in Section 1AA tournament, 3-0 
The most prominent feature of the Farmington girls hockey team during its recent run of success was its high-scoring offense. The Tigers consistently led the Missota Conference in goals scored during their stretch of 20-win seasons, Missota Conference titles and state tournament appearances from 2005 to 2011. The team scored a record 184 goals in the 2005-06 season and averaged 123 goals per season through last year.

Generating offense has been a season-long struggle for the Farmington girls hockey team. The team finished second to last in the Missota Conference with an average of 1.6 goals per game. The Tigers scored just six goals in their five-game losing streak before breaking out with four scores in a 4-1 league victory over rival Northfield in last Thursday’s regular season finale.

Girls hockey: Rough week drops Tigers’ record to 8-14
One bad minute resulted in three Maple Grove goals Monday night, capping off one bad week that resulted in three Farmington losses.
Farmington (8-14) trailed Maple Grove 1-0 in the third period when the Crimson reeled off three goals in a 58-second span to put the game away. The Tigers were outshot 33-7 as they were shut out for the fourth time this season.

Girls hockey: Tigers avenge loss to New Prague
Farmington showed some progress and exacted some revenge during a pair of Missota Conference contests last week.
The Tigers opened the week with a 5-1 loss at Chaska/Chanhassen, but played the league leaders much tougher than they did earlier in the season when the Stormhawks invaded Schmitz-Maki Arena and came away with an 8-1 decision. The team returned home Friday night and skated to a 3-1 victory over a New Prague team they fell to 2-0 on Dec. 1.
