Two charged with DWI
Gregory Young told the deputy he was in a hurry to pick up a stranded friend. The deputy told Young he shouldn’t be on the road at all. The Dakota County Attorney’s office charged the 30-year-old Hugo resident last week with second degree driving while impaired after he was stopped last September for speeding on Highway 52. The deputy stopped Young around 11:30 p.m. Sept. 6 after receiving a report of someone speeding. According to the complaint filed in the attorney’s office Young told the deputy he was headed to Zumbrota to pick up a friend. The deputy noticed an odor of alcohol and Young admitted he’d been drinking earlier in the evening. A preliminary breath test indicated Young was over the legal limit and a later test showed a blood alcohol content of .09, slightly above the legal limit for driving. Young was cinvicted of DWI in July of 2008 and his driver’s license was suspended in December of 2006 for having a blood alcohol content greater than .08. If convicted this time he could face up to a year in jail and fines of up to $3,000. It started with a complaint about someone hunting illegally and ended with charges of driving after a few too many. A Dakota County Sheriff’s deputy was responding to a report of poaching last October near Biscayne Avenue and 190th Street when he spotted a red pickup truck that matched the one described by the complainant. The driver, 28-year-old Brent Bosaaen of Farmington, said he was coming from a softball game but according to a complaint filed last week in the Dakota County Attorney’s office the deputy could smell alcohol on his breath. Bosaaen performed field sobriety tests and failed a preliminary breath test. A formal breath test administered at the Dakota County Jail showed a blood alcohol content of .13, above the legal limit for driving. Bosaaen was convicted of driving while impaired in 2000 in Crow Wing County. If convicted this time on a third degree charge of driving while impaired he could face up to a year in jail and fines of up to $3,000.By Nathan Hansen , January 11, 2010
