Farmington's Royle falls short in Daytona debut
Farmington’s Adam Royle didn’t make it to the finish of his first race at Daytona International Speedway. Royle earned a position in the front row of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series UNOH Battle at the Beach, but was forced to withdraw because of mechanical problems after 53 laps of the 150-lap race.

Aaron Lane has spent the last seven months honing his skills in all the disciplines required of a 19th-century soldier.
But the 16-year-old son of Bob and Bobbi Lane of Farmington isn’t some overly-dedicated Civil War reenactor. He’s a pentathlete. The modern pentathlon features fencing, equestrian show jumping, a combination of running and shooting, and swimming, all of which Baron Pierre de Courbertin, the father of the modern Olympic Games, believed represented the necessary skills for battle.

Babe Ruth: Farmington goes down swinging in division tournament
Fifth-seeded Farmington managed to make some noise in the South Division Senior Babe Ruth Tournament last weekend.
Farmington upset fourth-seeded Faribault 7-4 in the opening round, then put a scare into top-seeded Bloomington, holding a 5-2 lead late in an eventual 8-5 loss on Friday night. The team concluded a 3-14 summer season with a 10-8 loss to No. 3 Lakeville North on Saturday at Alimagnet Park in Burnsville.

Farmington's VandenBosch takes bronze in Special Olympics World Games
A little over a year ago, Katie VandenBosch played tennis for the first time.
Now, she owns an Olympics bronze medal.
VandenBosch, a Farmington High School graduate, was one of eight Minnesota athletes selected to participate for Team USA in the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games, which began in late June in Athens, Greece.

Babe Ruth baseball: Farmington drops four straight
The Farmington Senior Babe Ruth baseball team was outscored 48-15 while dropping four straight games last week.
Farmington lost to Faribault 9-3 last Tuesday, then was swept by undefeated Burnsville 12-3 and 15-7 Wednesday before a 12-2 setback to Bloomington on Thursday.
