Our local club provided checks in the amounts of $2,200 to 15 different charitable causes including Can-Do-Canine Leader dogs for the disabled, U of M Eye Bank, diabetes research, summer camps for the physically and mentally disabled, and Lions International Disaster relief.

Thanks to our Farmington citizens for supporting the local Lions so we may continue to support these causes.

Also Congratulations to Lions Helen Lee and Kathy Plumley for winning the first timers attendance award at this convention.

American Legion Post 189 Family

Thank you to all of our friends who have joined us for the Sons of the American Legion/VFW Men’s Auxiliary Veterans Omelet Breakfasts for the past two months. It has been very nice to see so many of our long-time supporters.

The next meeting of American Legion Auxiliary Farmington Unit 189 will be held Monday, March 17, which is our regular meeting day, but it will begin at 3 p.m. Please make an effort to attend this meeting, and make sure to bring along your hour count for time spent serving veterans and our community, as we need these hours to complete our annual reports.

During the corned beef and cabbage dinner (see the VFW’s notes for more information), American Legion Auxiliary Unit 189 will also have a collection box for shoes for the Farmington High School Soles4Souls drive near the entrance at the VFW during the dinner. Please help us help the FHS Youth Development students reach their goal of collecting 1,000 pairs of shoes for distribution in third world countries.
