Your weekend: Farmington Boy Scouts will hold annual food drive Saturday


Food drive

Boy Scouts in Farmington will hold their annual food drive Saturday, April 5. Boy and Girl Scouts will visit Farmington neighborhoods and knock on doors to collect donations for the Farmington Food Shelf. This is the 22nd year for the Scouts’ food drive.

Volunteer social

There will be a volunteer social at 1:30 p.m. April 5 at Trinity Care Center.


Pancake breakfast

The Farmington Knights of Columbus will hold a pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon April 6 at the Church of St. Michael, 22120 Denmark Ave. Proceeds will go toward local community needs.

Easter egg hunt

Trinity Campus will hold its annual Easter egg hunt at 1:30 p.m. April 12 at Trinity Care Center. The indoor hunt will feature visits from the Easter bunny as well as an opportunity to dye eggs, decorate cookies and get your face painted. Trinity Care Center is located at 3410 213th St. W.

Omelet breakfast

The Farmington Sons of the American Legion and VFW Men’s Auxiliary will hold their monthly Veterans Omelet Breakfast Sunday, April 13, from 8 a.m. to noon, at Farmington VFW Sypal-Lundgren Post 7662. Proceeds will go to benefit programs of the two organizations. The VFW is located at 421 Third St., Farmington.

Mexican train dominoes

There will be a game of Mexican train dominoes from 10:30 a.m. to noon on the second and fourth Mondays of the month at the Rambling River Center in Farmington. There will be a game April 14. Anyone is welcome to play. Rambling River Center is located at 325 Oak St.

Library events

Storytime for all ages

There will be a storytime for all ages from 10:30 to 11 a.m. April 4 at the temporary library location on the second floor of city hall, 430 Third St. Storytime includes stories and activities ideal for mixed-age groups.

Books and Beyond: Hop Into Spring

Kids up to 5 years old can have fun with stories, activities and crafts related to spring from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. April 10. The event will take place at the Meadowview Community Education Center, 6100 195th St. West in Farmington. Registration is required. For more information call the library at 651-438-0250.

Storytime for all ages

There will be a storytime for all ages from 10:30 to 11 a.m. April 11 at the Dakota County Farmington Library. Storytime includes stories and activities meant for mixed-age groups like families and daycare groups. The library is temporarily located on the second floor of Farmington City Hall, 430 Third St.

Friends of the Library meeting

There will be a meeting from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 14 to form a Friends of the Library organization in Farmington. The meeting is scheduled to take place in the library’s temporary location on the second floor of city hall. For more information call 651-438-0254.

Michelle Leonard

Michelle Leonard joined the Woodbury Bulletin staff in November, 2014, after 14 years covering news for the Bulletin's sister publication, the Farmington Rosemount Independent Town Pages.  Michelle earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications: News-Editorial from Mankato State University in 1991. She is an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary Clifford Larson Unit 189 of Farmington, and served as the 2014-15 Third District President to the American Legion Auxiliary Department of Minnesota. Michelle is also the volunteer coordinator for the Minnesota Newspaper Museum which is open annually during the Minnesota State Fair. She has earned Minnesota Newspaper Association awards in Investigative Reporting, Local News Coverage, Feature Photography and Column Writing.
