Church will bless animals Sunday
Light of the World Lutheran Church in Farmington will hold a Blessing of the Animals at 10 a.m. June 14 at Rosemount’s Central Park Amphitheater.
The bond between people and pets is like no other relationship, because the communication between fellow creatures is at its most basic. Eye-to-eye, people and their pets are as fundamental as love itself. For some the bond with their pets is the closest connection they have to other living beings.
To bless is more than an expression of goodwill and caring. The blessing of each animal, by name, means health, healing and life are being mediated from God for the benefit of the animal in its relationship with its human partners.
All animals are welcome for the blessing, including stuffed animals and photos or mementos of animals who have departed this life. All animals must be suitably restrained appropriate to their species. Pet treats and fresh water will be provided for animals. Ice cream sandwiches, coffee, lemonade and cookies will be provided for humans.
Light of the World is based out of North Trail Elementary School at 170th Street and Pilot Knob Road in Farmington. Worship is at 10 a.m.
