Police seek burglary suspect

Farmington police are looking for a gun carrying man who broke into a home Sept. 14 to burglarize it and robbed the homeowner of a small amount of cash before leaving.

At about 3:30 p.m., police responded to a home near 195th Street and Everest Path. The homeowner reported that he and his daughter were confronted by a man carrying a small firearm. The man was apparently trying to burglarize the home.

The armed suspect was in the home for a short time, Farmington police chief Brian Lindquist said. The man showed a gun to the homeowner. The homeowner gave the man a small amount of money, and the suspect left the home. Nothing else was taken from the home.

Police do not know whether the man fled on foot or in a vehicle, Lindquist said. Several officers from Farmington, Lakeville and Dakota County searched the neighborhood but did not find the individual.

The suspect is described as a black man in his late teens or early 20s, approximately 6 feet tall, and weighing about 195 pounds. The man was wearing black shoes, black pants and a black jacket, possibly leather. The man showed a small handgun to the home owner.

Anyone with information should call the Farmington Police Department at 651-463-3333.
